EcoFlow Wave Portable Air Conditioner: All to Know About EcoFlow’s Portable AC for RVers, Campers

EcoFlow, the famous vendor of eco-friendly solar power stations, has launched a portable air conditioner for off-grid life enthusiasts. The maker of the Delta and River power stations has designed a powerful and reliable 4000 BTU air conditioner that features the brand’s battery tech in its D.N.A.

EcoFlow Portable Wave Air Conditioner is a cool portable air conditioning system for campers, RVs, or any outdoor spaces under 86 ft² (8 m²). It will be a strong competitor to Zero Breeze’s 2300 BTU portable AC and all other water-based coolers. With its add-on battery, it offers a runtime of up to 8 hours.

The portable AC has got an inbuilt solar charging input so that you can charge its add-on battery directly from solar panels with an input of 200W (max). Besides the add-on battery, the Wave also works with EcoFlow’s Delta Max and Delta Pro via XT150 for additional runtime.

Early Bird Deal Update: EcoFlow Wave AC and the Delta Pro Combo is available at an early bird price of $4,299 with a discount of $900 off its MSRP of $5,199. Get the EcoFlow Wave alone here

EcoFlow Wave Overview

The Wave is one of its kind portable ACs with much convenience and easiness of use. Having much more power in cooling your living spaces, this can be a great addition to the camping gear collection of outdoor enthusiasts.

The add-on battery pack of Wave is a 1008Wh unit and the brand offers it with and without the battery. With the lite and thin battery, transportation of the AC will be a breeze, for sure.

You can easily snap on the main body of the AC to the battery pack and enjoy chillness in the scorching summers in a variety of your outdoor living spaces like RVs, campers, boats, and more.

As said above, you can pair Wave with Delta Max and Delta Pro via XT150 port for extra runtime.

By pairing with the EcoFlow power stations, you can achieve an additional runtime of eight to 16 hours. Well, EcoFlow’s own power stations give it 28% additional efficiency than other brands’ power stations in the same working environs.

EcoFlow Wave Charging Options

When it comes to charging, the EcoFlow AC features the same principle as its power stations.

That is, you can charge the 1008Wh battery in multiple ways, including solar. Even when the battery is on, you can charge it from solar panels, a wall socket, a car outlet, or a portable power station.

EcoFlow Wave Runtime – How Long Wave Can Run?

Though touting an eight-hour runtime on its add-on 1008Wh battery pack, it is not all the cooling hours. Only 2.2-hour is the pure cooling time, the rest is actually a fan mode.

Well, as you see, the AC features a battery algorithm that helps it sense the capacity of the connected battery and switch to a fan mode, where it consumes less energy and so you get a longer runtime.

With that being said, the add-on battery can run Wave for up to eight hours, which includes a cooling time of 2.5 hours and 5.5 hours of fan mode.

If you connect it to a Delta Max 1600 (1612Wh) with the included DC cable, you get 4.5 hours of cooling time and 3.5 hours of fan mode.

The 2016Wh Delta Max 2000 can offer 6 hours of cooling time and two hours of fan mode. If you have a Delta Pro, you can run the device in two sessions with up to eleven hours of cooling time.

You can customize all these timing and temperature things on the included EcoFlow App. By the way, in a future firmware upgrade, EcoFlow will make these things fully automatic so that the Wave can smartly switch back and forth between the cooling and fan modes to save power.

Built-in Evaporation System

The EcoFlow Wave air conditioner won’t leak drainage water. It features a built-in evaporation system that can drain the water from condensation using the heat from the compressor. That is, the system doesn’t store water and you don’t need to wake up at midnight to empty it.

EcoFlow Wave Exhaust and Intake System

After introducing the water draining feature, EcoFlow has come up with a video to show how its exhaust and intake systems work.

Along with the device, you can get an adapter assembly to connect to the backside of the AC to cover both the hot-end air outlet and the hot-end air inlet separately. You can use the included extensible flex tubes to extend the outlet and inlet as per your comfort.

Similarly, the brand has also designed an adapter for the front AC inlet to distribute the cooling. That is a way you can place the air conditioner outside your RV or tent and extend the pipe to get cool air inside.
